Dynamat sound deadening, done right the first time

Made in the USA. It will not fall off, will not smell and will not drip. A quieter ride, solid-sounding doors and a stereo that finally sounds the way it should.

Quieter, better sounding, done once

Sound deadening stops the metal and plastic in your car from vibrating. The ride gets quieter, the doors close with a solid thud, and your stereo sounds cleaner with more bass.

Xtreme is the base

Dynamat Xtreme is what about 90% of our customers buy. It goes on bare metal first, and every other layer goes on top of it.

Do it right the first time

Whatever sticks to the steel is there for good. Cheap mat softens in the heat, lets go, smells and drips, and you cannot clean it up after. Pulling it out means hours per panel with a heat gun and scraper. We use Dynamat so it is done once.

Straight talk: Treat fewer panels with the right material, never more panels with the wrong one.

At a minimum: the doors and the door panels

If you do one thing, do the doors. Xtreme on the door metal and on the plastic door panel makes a huge difference on just about any car. It is the biggest change you can hear for the money.

  • Outer door skin

Xtreme on 50 to 80% of the outer skin stops the big flat panel from ringing.

  • Inner door skin

Xtreme covers the inner skin and seals the holes, so the speaker works like it is in a box.

  • The plastic door panel

The part most shops skip. Xtreme on the flat spans kills buzz and rattles right next to your ear.

On a budget, phase it: 1 doors and door panels, 2 floor and firewall, 3 roof, trunk and quarters

Separate layers beat one thick combo mat

In key areas we add a second foam or mass layer over the Xtreme. We do not use one-piece products that combine both.

Thin Xtreme rolls into every contour of stamped steel; a thick butyl and foam combo bridges the low spots and leaves air gaps
Thin rolls into every contour. Thick combo mats leave air gaps.

Why not a 2-in-1 mat?

Damping only happens where the butyl touches the metal. A one-piece mat with foam on top is too stiff to roll into the curves of the panel, so it bridges the low spots and leaves air gaps. The installer cannot feel those gaps through the foam or reach them with a roller, and every gap is a spot that does nothing.

Thin Xtreme goes on first and gets rolled down tight, so you can feel it is fully stuck. Then the right second layer goes on top.

  • 1. Xtreme on the metal

Stops vibration. It has to touch bare steel to work.

  • 2. DynaPad on floors and firewall

Mass blocks road roar, exhaust drone and heat. Foam is not mass.

  • 3. Dynaliner on roof, quarters and trunk

Foam absorbs rattles and higher-pitched noise and insulates.

Vans and camper builds: do it first

A van is a big metal box in the sun with the largest flat panels on the road, and it tops 150°F inside in the summer. Deadening is day one of the build, before the floor, walls or cabinets go in.

Vans: roof, walls, doors and floor, zone by zone.
  • Xtreme before insulation

Wool or foam insulation goes on top of the Xtreme, never instead of it.

  • 50 to 80% on big panels

Patches on the flat spans stop the drumming. DynaCore bridges the biggest gaps.

  • DynaPad under the subfloor

Mass between the steel and the plywood blocks road roar, the difference between a van and a room.

  • Sealed in forever

The build goes over it. There is no coming back to fix cheap mat.

Straight talk: Cheap mat in a van does not just underperform. It fails under your floor and behind your walls, where you can never reach it.

Sound deadening questions

What does sound deadening do?

It stops the metal and plastic in your car from vibrating. The ride gets quieter, the doors close with a solid thud, and your stereo sounds cleaner with more bass.

Where should I start?

The doors. Dynamat Xtreme on the door metal and the plastic door panel makes a huge difference on just about any car, and it is the biggest change you can hear for the money.

Which Dynamat product do I need?

Dynamat Xtreme is the base layer and what about 90% of our customers buy. It goes on bare metal first, and in key areas we add DynaPad or Dynaliner on top.

Why not use a 2-in-1 mat with foam on top?

A one-piece mat is too stiff to roll into the curves of a panel, so it leaves air gaps the installer cannot feel or reach. Damping only happens where the butyl touches the metal.

Will it hold up in the Clovis heat?

Yes. Dynamat is made in the USA and rated from -65°F to +300°F. It will not fall off, will not smell and will not drip.
